Toolstation has partnered with Edenred Payment Solutions to launch a new omnichannel gift card programme across its UK stores, website and mobile app.
Developed and launched in just eight weeks, the new closed-loop gift cards can be purchased and redeemed across Toolstation’s network of more than 590 UK branches, online and through its mobile app.
The programme is powered by Edenred Payment Solutions’ API-based payments platform and provides Toolstation with end-to-end card processing capabilities, including real-time top-ups, balance enquiries and secure redemptions.
The technology has been integrated directly into Toolstation’s existing checkout systems, removing the need for customers to be redirected to third-party services when using their gift cards.
Toolstation will also have access to customer service management tools and analytics dashboards, allowing the retailer to monitor activity, breakage, customer behaviour and campaign performance.
Gift cards can be loaded with values ranging from £1 to £500, with Toolstation positioning the programme as a way to provide greater flexibility for both tradespeople and DIY customers.
The retailer also plans to integrate gift cards with its existing loyalty activity, allowing them to be used for promotional incentives and competition rewards.
Rehana Mitha, Managing Director of Edenred Payment Solutions, said:
“Toolstation is the latest retailer to recognise the importance of incorporating gift cards into their customer proposition. They wanted to create a brand new programme with zero friction when their customers were using the gift card, regardless of how they choose to purchase and redeem across stores, the web and app.
“They set an ambitious goal of integration, card manufacture, and launch in their stores in just eight weeks. Our dedicated project team worked with great agility and close collaboration with several Toolstation stakeholders to meet this timeline. We are thrilled to support Toolstation with an end-to-end payment solution that promotes long-term customer loyalty while also giving rise to meaningful community and B2B initiatives in the future.”
Chris Other, Customer Director at Toolstation, said:
“We know our customers value speed, convenience, and flexibility above all else, which is why we have introduced a gift card offering. By making our cards redeemable across our app, website, and in-store, we’re making it easier than ever for tradespeople to get the products they need. Whether it’s a £10 thank-you or a £500 investment toward a serious toolkit upgrade, gifting the trades and DIYers has never been simpler.”
Toolstation said the programme also creates opportunities to acquire new customers, guarantee future spend and boost average order values, while supporting its wider loyalty initiatives.
