H&M Group has expanded its use of GreyOrange’s AI-powered inventory technology to hundreds of stores across three continents as the fashion giant looks to improve inventory management.
The retailer is using GreyOrange’s gStore platform, which combines inventory software with technologies including RFID and computer vision to provide item-level visibility across stores.
The technology can locate individual SKUs to within three to five feet and combines inventory and sales data to help retailers identify fast-selling products, locate items left in fitting rooms and determine when stock needs replenishing.
H&M’s rollout forms part of a wider relationship between the two businesses which began with GreyOrange’s GreyMatter warehouse orchestration platform in a US distribution centre in 2021.
The partnership has since expanded across additional North American distribution facilities, while gStore has now been implemented in hundreds of H&M Group retail locations across three continents, with further stores set to follow.
According to GreyOrange, the technology is designed to improve inventory accuracy, replenishment and store execution, while supporting omnichannel fulfilment. Its warehouse technology has also been used to streamline order processing, reduce operational costs and accelerate ecommerce deliveries.
David Pino, Head of Emerging Technology at H&M Group, said:
“H&M Group constantly explores new technologies that improve how our customers shop and how our teams work. Beyond a strong product, scaling technology across our network takes a specialised understanding of how stores, fulfillment operations and inventory flows work together to support a seamless customer experience. With GreyOrange, we’re refining store and fulfillment workflows to meet the speed, complexity and omnichannel demands of global fashion retail.”
The H&M deployment forms part of a broader milestone for GreyOrange, whose technology is now used across more than 3,800 retail locations globally.
Its gStore platform has managed approximately 200 million inventory items across live deployments, while GreyOrange now operates around 130,000 hardware and software-based agents across stores and warehouses.
Akash Gupta, Co-founder and CEO of GreyOrange added:
“Many of the world’s largest retailers run their core operations on GreyOrange. Their scale, operational complexity, and willingness to co-develop the future of omnichannel technology rather than simply adopt it have helped us shape how our platform performs. We’ve reached this milestone of 3,800 stores live thanks to customers like H&M Group, whose deep partnership empowers us to keep building physical AI solutions that fit how busy retailers operate.”
