Tesco Marketplace has surpassed 1,000 sellers, an increase of more than 80% year on year, as the supermarket expands its third-party ecommerce offering.
According to Tesco’s half-year results, published on 8 October, average weekly marketplace traffic increased by approximately 32%, while the number of unique products available grew by more than 50% since the start of the year. Tesco said an improved AI-enabled onboarding process has supported the growth in seller numbers, alongside the expansion of its product range.
Launched in June 2024, Tesco Marketplace enables third-party sellers to offer products through Tesco’s website, extending its range beyond groceries into categories including home, garden, pet care and general merchandise. The marketplace is part of Tesco’s efforts to expand its online offering beyond groceries, alongside other digital operations such as F&F Online.
The figures were published alongside continued growth across Tesco’s wider UK ecommerce business. Online sales reached £3.7 billion during the 26 weeks to 29 August 2026, an increase of 8% year on year, while average weekly grocery home delivery orders grew by 5%.
Tesco’s rapid delivery business, Whoosh, also recorded sales growth of approximately 37%, driven by increases in order volumes and basket sizes.
Ken Murphy, Chief Executive of Tesco, said:
“Our digital channels are important growth drivers for Tesco, with online sales growing 8% in the half. We are complementing our leading position in grocery home shopping with strong growth in Whoosh, up 37% in the half and on track to deliver sales of over £500m this year.”
